Having been the only gate that witnessed urbanization, linking the northern coast to the western side, Derwaza Al-Jahra is also considered a prominent gate of Kuwait. It’s named after Al-Jahra village, and was its nearest exit.
Inhabitants such as Arab nomads, were forced to move outside the Wall next to the said Derwaza. Derwaza Al-Jahra remained a gate through which cars drove in and out until a road planning was developed. Thus, the Derwaza was memorialized onto a roundabout known today by its name.
